Teresa Navajo

insect illustrations

My name is Teresa Navajo and I am a self taught artist. I mostly work with ink and watercolor now, but I also enjoy time spent with acrylics and other mixed mediums where I like to work abstractly. My artwork focuses on insects (mostly pollinators). I draw inspiration from vintage postcards and encyclopedias and often have a scientific/entomological feel to my illustrations. Nature is my constant muse, insects at the forefront because they hold a subtle beauty and while they may go unnoticed to many, they impact our daily lives so tremendously. In addition to my insect art, you may recognize my abstract artwork on many of the cans (in national/international distribution) for Untitled Art Brewing. I am also the face of “One, Two” a Strawberry Cider by (in national/international distribution) Slim Pickens Cider + Mead.
To collect my work:

What is the midnight alchemist? The name comes from being a self taught artist. The definition of alchemist is “a person who transforms or creates something through a seemingly magical process.” The reference to midnight is simply because before taking my art to a professional level, I was forced to work on projects after long days of office jobs and the errands of typical daily life. My only time to be creative was often during the midnight hours when everyone else was sound asleep.
